Join Friends and Family for a community fundraising event in support of Julie Danberg Demars, a beloved wife, friend, and neighbor who recently received a life-saving liver transplant.
Julie was raised in Proctor and now lives in Cloquet with her husband, James. In July 2024, a severe E. coli infection led to sepsis, and a CT scan revealed end-stage liver disease. After months of fighting for her life and multiple hospital stays, Julie was airlifted from St. Luke’s to Mayo Clinic on January 24, 2025. She underwent a successful liver transplant on February 6 and began a long journey of recovery.
Julie spent months in bed, lost the ability to walk, and required round-the-clock care from James, who missed significant time at work to be by her side. On March 31, 2025, she was finally able to return home—and each day, she grows stronger.
Friends and Family are hosting this event to raise funds to help Julie and James with ongoing medical and recovery-related expenses—and to celebrate her courage, resilience, and the incredible support of our community.
