How is my financial contribution used?
The media ministry requires funding to change lives for Jesus Christ. Of course your support is for staff salaries, electricity, new equipment, and maintenance of existing equipment, phone lines, and bandwidth for Internet streaming, studio equipment, new services, towers, transmitters, translators, antennas and music licensing.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes! Northwestern Media is a ministry of Northwestern College which is a 501c3 not for profit organization. Your gifts are 100 percent tax deductible. Also, Northwestern is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. ECFA is an accreditation agency dedicated to helping Christian ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.
I notice that Northwestern College appears on all giving records. Is my financial gift being used by Northwestern College or my local radio station?
While Northwestern College is the owner of all the radio stations, please be assured that all financial gifts designated for a radio station are placed in that radio station’s account. Receipts for financial gifts are issued in the name of Northwestern College for IRS/tax purposes.
What is the difference between a pledge and a gift?
A gift is immediate (cash, credit card, check). A pledge is a faith promise: an agreement between you and the Lord that, as He provides, you will fulfill your commitment to support this media ministry. Typically, pledges are for 12 months.
What is automatic monthly giving (auto giving), and how does it work?
If you make a pledge to give monthly, you can choose to fulfill this commitment by electronic funds transfer (EFT) or monthly credit card gifts. By signing up for automatic giving, you don’t need to worry about missing a pledge payment or mailing a check. It also means more of your financial gift goes to ministry instead of administration costs.
How do I pay on my pledge?

If I make a pledge commitment, do you send me a confirmation?
Yes.
What is “TFN” and how does it work?
By signing up for TFN (Till Further Notice) online or by mail, you eliminate the need to renew your monthly commitment each year. Plus this is the most cost-effective giving method allowing more of your financial gift to go toward the ministry rather than administrative costs. The benefit of TFN giving is that your monthly financial support continues uninterrupted until you notify us that you would like to make a change. (Your signature is required, and you can notify us in writing when you decide to make a change to your commitment)
If I make a TFN commitment, do you send me a confirmation?
Instead of a confirmation letter we will send you quarterly giving statements.
What happens if I make a gift to the ministry?
We will send you a thank-you letter and receipt for your giving.
Do you have an Employer Matching Funds program?
Yes! The Employer Matching Funds program involves your employer “matching” the financial contribution you make to the radio ministry (Click here for more information on Employer Matching Funds). Your employer will match your donations to us under the provisions of the college as an educational institution. Northwestern Media is a ministry of Northwestern College, which is a 501c3 organization. Visit your Human Resources Department for the necessary forms to initiate Employer Matching Funds.
Do people really come to Christ because of the radio ministry?
Yes! Often the Lord has used this ministry to touch lives in the most unique places, at just the right time. In fact, as much as 30 percent of our listening audience is made up of people who have not yet invited Jesus to be the Lord of their life.
I hear mentions made of businesses and other nonprofit organizations on air. Are they replacing donors?
No. Some friends who believe in the mission of Northwestern Media would rather support us through their business than through their personal accounts. Less than 10% of our revenue comes from business sponsors. We continue to need gifts from many friends to carry on the ministry.
Do you really need my financial support?
Yes and we are grateful for whatever you may give!
Do you need my financial support if I gave last year?
Yes. Our budget is annual.
What if I cannot afford to support the radio ministry financially?
We understand that situations change from time to time. We would, however, encourage you to find a level of support that works for your family’s budget. Some listeners choose to match their entertainment spending—such as restaurants or coffee shops—with an equal contribution to the radio ministry.
What if I am supporting another ministry?
It is encouraging to know that you are supporting another faith-based ministry. It is our prayer that you would also support Life 97.3 and join us in reaching people for Christ with a message of hope and encouragement.
